Third in the in dividual junior standings was Crystal Meek of Lan caster County with 279 oomts. Lehigh County's junior team won its first place with 830 points, compared to 801 points for runner-up Chester County, and 795 for third place Lancaster County. Northampton County won fourth place with 730 points and Berks County was fifth at 695. Aside from Bonnie Wessner, Lehigh County’s victorious junior trio was composed of 9-year old Debra Krause of Slatington and 13-year old John Mc- Cauley of Schnecksville. Chester County’s second place team consisted of Jeff Walker, Bill Wiley, and Bill McCauley. Lancaster County’s tno was Crystal Meek, Ernie Frey, and Scott Augsburger. Northampton County’s team members were Tammy Wagner, Glenn Wuchter, and David Schultz. Berks Countians who combined for the fifth place effort were Mike Rarick, Elaine Heffner, and James Heffner. The seven counties that were represented were Berks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Nor thampton, and York. This marked the second year in succession that Lehigh County teams won both the junior and semor team titles. When the contest was first held in 1977, York County teams ran away with all the honors. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Eisenhour. Wagner, John Roberts, and Ron Bolze. Wagner, an Angus and Dorset breeder and 4-H leader from Bethlehem, was the swine judge. Roberts, a voag teacher and part-time farmer from Bloomsburg officiated the sheep scores, and Bolze, a cattleman from Loysville, penciled the of ficial beef scores. According to Lehigh County Extension Agent David Dunbar, who helped organize the event, at tendance to this year’s contest was down somewhat. A year ago 70 students took part in the judging, com pared to 57 this year. He suspects that the gasoline shortage may have had something to do with that. Six classes of livestock were judged by all con testants, both juniors and seniors. Each class was worth 50 points. There were 7 two classes for each of the three species of animals in the contest.
