She was selected earlier this month at the annual banquet and pageant at the Kimberton Fireball. Nadine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Prange. The family has a holstein herd. She attends Mansfield State College majoring in Home Economics. In addition to various 4-H and church activities, Nadine is a member of Russellville Grange. Nadine was also selected as Miss Congeniality. Each of the contestants presented a short milk or dairy promotional talk. Nadine’s aimed at primary school children, combining the magic of a crystal ball and the importance of milk. The first runner-up was Patty Jenkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jenkins, Toughkenamon. The family raises Jerseys. Reserve com released WASHINGTON, D.C. - Com in the farmer-owned reserve was released for redemption, effective im mediately, by John Good win, acting executive vice president of the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC). Farmers may sell their reserve com after repaying their CCC price support loans. Release of the reserve does not require fanners to redeem or sell their grain at this time. Goodwm said the national average market pnce for com has reached $2.50 per bushel. The pnce level at which the commodity is released from the reserve is 125 per cent of the $2.00 national loan rate or $2.50 per bushel. More than 730 million bushel of com are in the reserve. Upon repayment of the loan, farmers can keep the storage paymens earned through the date of repayment. On July 31, the department will review the average pnce for corn to determine if the release authorized should remain in effect. If release continues, storage earnings will stop in those states where the price remains above the release level. Patty recently graduated from Kennett High School. Her promotion was for a general audience entitled, ‘Vist the Dairy Delight’. Susan Kulp of Pottstown, was second runner-up. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kulp, she attends Owen J. Roberts High School. Her presentation was ‘Jogging for Milk’. Other contestants were: Lois Mark and Alice Mark, both from West Grove. In addition to the dairy promotion, an interview and general dairy knowledge, each of the girls had to an swer a question presented to them by Master of Ceremomes Gene McDowell. Judges for this years contest were Susan Seidel, former Berks County dairy princess; Mrs. Vernette Myers, member of the Berks County Dairy Committee; and George Steele of Pocopson.
