Of the money spent on food eaten away from home, $ll per week was for meals, $3 for snacks A toui i.f 3500 “ households were involved in the survey conducted in the Spring of 1977. Some other highlights of the survey: * Suburban households were larger, -spent more money on food than those in central-city and non metropolitan areas. * As income increased, the percentage of money spent on food eaten away from home increased from 14 percent for households below the $5OOO per year level, to 29 percent for households with $20,000 per year and above.
