FIVE STAR FUDGE CAKE
% cup butter or margarine
2% cups granulated sugar
3 cups sifted flour
1% cups ice water
3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
3 eggs
% teaspoon salt
1% teaspoon baking soda
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and
fluffy at medium speed. Beat in vanilla. Add eggs, one at a
time. Blend in melted chocolate. Sift flour, baking soda
and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with water to
cream mixture. Beat well after each addition. Grease and
flour three eight inch pans or a sheet cake pan. Bake at 350
degrees F. for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife comes out
of the center clean.
CHOCOLATE SOUR CREAM FILLING AND ICING
2 cups granulated sugar
6 tablespoons chocolate syrup
% cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the sugar and chocolate syrup in a saucepan.
Mix well, then add the sour cream. Cook over medium
heat to the softball stage (234 degrees F.). Remove from
heat, and add vanilla. Beat until thick enough to spread.
Add nuts for variety. Makes VA cups icing.
