GRAIN BINS
Quonset, the agricultural
building division of National
Steel Products Company,
has added a complete line of
grain bins for farm and
commercial use to its
product line according to an
announcement by Quonset
General Manager, J. P.
Haller, Jr.
The grain bins, now
available for shipment from
Quonset, range from 12 feet
diameter, 13 feet 1 inch
height on up to a 60 feet
diameter, 76 feet height
which provides a peaked
grain storage capacity of
144,100 bushels.
One exclusive Quonset
design, shouldered-boz roof
ribs which are die formed
and punched in one
operation, offer tight fit and
easy assembly, says the
manufacturer. Built of one
piece galvanized panels,
Quonset’s bin roof uses 20
gauge panels on larger bins
and 22 gauge panels on bins
21 feet in diameter or

to set aside or otherwise
divert 5583 acres ot
cropland, according to Joe
Penuel, State Executive
Director of the Agricultural
Stabilization and Con
servation Service (ASCS).
A progress report at the
end of April shows that
farmers mtend to set aside
635 cropland acres under the
wheat program and 4948
acres under the feed gram
program.
Penuel said, “We are
plased with program par

producers want to be eligible

disaster payments, and
they want to increase the
prices they receive for their
crops by helping to prevent
an excessive buildup of
wheat and feed gram
stocks.”
According to the report,
local participants intend to
plant 3175 acres of wheat and
29,412 acres of feed grains
for harvest. Of the 4317
eligible farms in the state,
356 are enrolled in the wheat
and feed gram program. The
participating farms have
66,049 acres of the 395,786
total normal crop acreage
(NCA) established on farms.
The ASCS official said
final figures will be
available after farmers have
certified their acreage later
in the year.
