College Days II is being offered regionally to facilitate attendance, while Marylanders invited conserving energy and provide programs designed to meet local needs ac cording to Dr. Marjorie M Mortvedt, MCES assistant director for home economics programs. The first program is scheduled for June 12 and 13 at Mount St. Mary’s College, Era mitsburg (Frederick County); the second, for June 18-22 at St. Mary’s College, St. mary’s City (St. Mary’s County); the third, for June 20-22 at Washington College, Chestertown (Kent County), and the fourth for August 19-22 at Camp Hickory near Accident (Garrett County). The programs are open to men and women. Interested persons are requested to pre register for one or more of the four sessions by May 28. You may stay overnight or commute. Registration forms are available from County Extension offices or from Maryland Cooperative Extension Service headquarters offices at the University of Maryland, College Park, Md. 20742. Mortvedt says that early registration will assure facilities and arrangements will be in order so that those attending will get the maximum benefit from the program and be able to participate in the classes of their choice. State and County faculty members of the University’s Cooperative Extension Service will cover a broad _ range of topics to help participants learn and grow. Some class offerings are the same in all regions, others are unique to one. Topics and lengths of class periods vary by region. Class titles include; Creative Writing, Public Speaking, Weeds You Can Eat, Assertiveness Training, Plan and Plant for Beauty, Parent and Child Com munications. Each region is also of fering recreation and evening programs. Dairy club meets The Western Berks 4-H Dairy Club met at the home -of Bashore’s on May 4. Prizes were picked for the Hoard’s Diaryman judging contest. New business was the exhibit for the Ag Days at the Berkshire Mall. The next meeting will be held on June 7 at Mark Moyer’s home, Bethel. Marzka, 60, of Cambridge Springs R 3, Crawford County, has been, appointed as Regional Director for the Department of Agriculture’s Region One Office in Meadville, according to State Agriculture Secretary Penrose Hallowell. Marzka assumed his duties with the Department on May 9. Hallowell said he« was pleased that Marzka had accepted the appointment, citing Marzka’s “broad based background in nor thwestern Pennsylvania agriculture as a positive factor in his appointment. George, as a farmer, has a good understanding of the needs of farmers in nor thwestern Pennsylvania,” Hallowell said. “I am sure that his experience will be a great help as we work to make the Department’s Region Office more responsive to the needs of farmers and consumers in the northwest.
