Third performance tested ram sale
WASHINGTON ~ Penn

Hallowell announced thajt
the Third Annual Per
formance Tested Ram Sale
will be held at the
Washington County
Fairgrounds in Washington,
Pennsylvania, on June 2 at 2
p.m.
The Secretary said ap
proximately 30 rams will be
on the Mock for sale in
conjunction with the Penn
sylvania Sheep Field Day.
Forty-one yearling rams
were put on an 84-day test
beginning February at the
Department’s Meat
Evaluation Center at
University Park. “During

Hallowell said, “the average
daily gam of all rams was 82
pounds. The weight gam
ranged from .46 pounds to
1.26 pounds per day.
“During the testing we
determined which rams
developed the greatest gam
per day with the least
amound of fat. Only the top
75 per cent will be sold at
auction.
“Buyers will be able to
check the individual per
formance records of all
rams for sale to determine
weight gam. All rams will be
ultrasonically scanned m
fat thickness and lorn eye
area, with these records also
