Closing prices on
slaughter steers were 75-1.00
lower, and heifers closed SO
TS cents lower. Cows were 50-
1.00 higher, and bulls firm.
Four day receipts 12,500, last
week 13,600, a year ago
16,200.
Fed cattle prices were
forced downward early in
reflection of a bearish
carcass trade and only a
token recovery was made on
a sharply curtailed midweek
supply. Most interest were
not competitive for
maximum numbers in view
of continued unfavorable
cut-out ratios, and yield
grade was often a major
price-determining factor. In
addition to the seller
resistance to lower prices,
pressing field works often
claimed first priority over
marketing cattle. The run
included a fairly liberal
percentage choice steers and
heifers although many were
mixed yield grade 3 and 4.
Steers made up ap
proximately 46 pet and
heifers 34 pet. Cows com
