the Adams County Apple
Blossom Festival.
The highlight of the day’s
activities was the crowning
'of the 1979 Apple Blossom
-Queen, Kristel Shutt.

lady was crowned by the Pa.
Secretary of Agriculture,
Penrose Hallo well.
She lives with her parents
on a 450 acre orchard farm,
and is a junior at Gettysburg
Senior High School. She will
represent the Adams County
Fruit Growers Association
and help promote apples
within the county. She has
already been on TV, and she

will take part in the National
Apple Harvest Queen contest
in October, which will be
hosted in Adams County.
Next Winter she will com
pete in the state Apple Queen
contest.
The queen’s court included
Patricia Chronister, Leslie
Garretson, and Dawn
Keefer, all of Adams County.

Apple bobbing was a popular event for the younger set at the Apple Blossom
Festival. Youngsters gathered around the old wooden tub for a chance to get
their faces wet as they tried for the elusive apples.
