Junior Angus show
ST. JOSEPH, MO. - Entry
deadline is June 1 for the
1979 National Junior Angus
Heifer Show set for July 19-
20 in Indianapolis.
Entries must be post
marked by June 1 to be
eligible to compete in the
11th annual event. Each
youngster must have owned
his or her heifer and had it
recorded solely in the' name
of the exhibitor sinqe May 1
in order to enter the show.
The National Heifer Show
is expected to attract more
than 700 entries from 25
states, and will be held at the
Marion County Fairgrounds
on the east side of In
dianapolis just off 1-465.
Heifers may be checked in at
the fairgrounds as early as
noon, July 16, and must be
received by noon Wed
nesday, July 18. Show judge
will be Mark Richanlson,
Sayre Farms, Phelps, N.Y.

The show will be held in
conjunction with the
National Junior Angus
Showmanship Contest This
contest annually attracts
some 80 winners of the state
showmanship contests, from
more than 40 states, who
come to compete for the
honor of being named
national Angus showman
ship champion. Each state
and Canada may send two
winners to the event,
sponsored by the American
Angus Association.

A number of special at
tractions are planned for
both youngsers and adults
who come to the show and
showmanship contest. On
Wednesday the Angus
Association will sponsor bus
trips from the fairgrounds to
the Indianapolis 500 race
track and museum, and race
fans may even take a drive
around the track itself.
On Wednesday evening the
Indiana Junior Angus
Association will put on a pit
barbecue and that night
there will be a mixer and
dance for the young people.
On Thursday evening there
will be pool parties for the
young people at both the
Holiday Inn and Sheraton
Motor Inn, and a hospitality
hour for adults at the
Sheraton Motor Inn. The
show will be at 8 a.m.
Thursday, July 19 and
preliminaries in the
showmanship contest will
begin at 2:45 pm. Finals for
the showmanship contest
and selection of the grand
champion heifer will be on
Friday.
All youngsters who enter
cattle or that will be in the
showmanship contest will
receive hotel information.
Additional information on
hotel accomodations will be
available < from the
Association after June 15.
