Omaha Cattle Thursday, May 3,1979 Midweek prices on slaughter steers were $.75- 1.25 higher, and heifers were $l.OO-1.50 higher. Cows closed $2,504.00 lower and bulls were weak to $l.OO lower. A reduced supply of fleshy two-way feeder steers sold steady to firm. Four day receipts 13,700, last week 13,400, a year ago 16,800. Fed cattle prices once again pointed upward partially in reflection of the much improved carcass trade late the previous week. However, midweek demand was rather sensitive as modest beef supplies were reported adequate for the light demand. Locally, several slaughterers were out of operation for periods ranging from 2-3 days up to a week. The overall finish of the steer and heifer supply was fairly attractive with a .
