Seven dairy farm families
were honored by their fellow
members in Maryland
Cooperative Milk Producers,
Inc. for producing milk of
exceptional quality. The
awards were presented
March 24 during the 44th
Annual Meeting and
Banquet of MCMP at
Marriott’s Hunt Valley Inn,
Auctioneering contest books country musician
BRUSH, Colo. - The
author of 50 number-one
selling songs and a member
of the Song Writer’s Hall of
Fame, Bill Anderson, will be
the entertainment headliner
following the World
Livestock Auctioneer
Championship, to be held
here Saturday, June 16.
Anderson and his group,
“The Po’ Folks,” will per
form following a barbecue in
Brush Saturday evening.
The Championship will begin
at noon at Livestock Ex
change, Inc.
Anderson’s appearance
will climax a day of com
petition among North
America’s top livestock
auctioneers.

The awards program was
created by MCMP m an
effort to recognize those
producers who make that
extra effort to produce milk
of the highest quality. The
program is also designed to
encourage the members to
continue their efforts and to
motivate others to do
likewise.
Trophies and merchandise
prizes will be awarded to the
winners, who will be judged
by a panel of livestock
market owners and
managers on the criteria
they look for when hiring an
auctioneer.

three categories; Ex
cellence, Gold and Silver.
The most prestigious of the
awards and consequently the
hardest to earn is the Award
of Excellence. During 1978
only seven of MCMP’s 1,000
members earned this
recognition.
The criteria for the
contestants may be spon

The criteria for the Gold
Award are the same as for
the Excellence with the
exception of the farm in
spection scores. The Gold
group must have an average
farm inspection score of at
least 92.
The Silver Award criteria
though not as tough as the
Gold or Excellence group Is
still worthy of recognition.
Those producers who earned
the Silver met all
requirements previously
listed for the Gold with the
exception that all standard
plate counts must have been
under 50,000 and eleven of
the 12 must have been 10,000
or under. Sixty-three
producers earned the Silver
recognition.
