Inc., New Holland, a leading
distributor of Deutz Diesel
engines and tractors in
eastern Pennsylvania.
Tony’s tractor has come a
long way since the first,
recorded tractor pulls were
held in 1929, a year after the
Kendall Refining Company
introduced the first 2000 mile
oil.
The first tractor pullers
pulled a flat-bottom sled
filled with stones. Three
years ago, NTPA patented a
weight transfer machine,
which moves weight from
the trailer wheels to the sled.
Today tractor pullers
throughout the country are
competing in a variety of
classes including super
stock, modified and mini
tractors, and the four wheel
drive pick up truck com
petition in pursuit of $1
million in purse money.
More than 3,000 pullers
participate in 500 events
annually drawing crowds of
two million fans.
