The Bio-Mlttent Lighting Program is a new
concept for lighting pullets and layers. It is
the result of four years of testing and modifi-
cations by Purina researchers to bring
poultrymen a program that will save feed and
reduce the.use of electricity.
The program is based on early research that
showed when lights were programmed to go
on and off on a specific schedule the rate of
production remained equal to production
obtained when light was constant. Purina
Bio-Mitfent lighting Offers These Advantages
l.Lowers Feed Costs
Tests show a reduction of 0.2 pounds of feed
per dozen eggs in layers and 0.5 pound less
feed per pullet to 20 weeks of age. This
amounts to 5% to 7% increased feed ef
ficiency without any loss of production. (At 6'
per pound net savings in feed costs can be
about 18 c to 20* per layer per cycle).
THE RESEARCH PROVEN 810-MITTENT LIGHTING PROGRAM
IS AVAILABLE ONLT FROM YOUR PURINA DEALER.
FOR BEST RESULTS, THE 810-MITTENT LIGHTING PROGRAM IS
RECOMMENDED FOR USE ONLY WITH PURINA 810-4 POULTRY RATIONS.

Research introduced an “industry first” with
a detailed program for making full use of this
lighting principle.
*
for maximum benefits, environmentally con
trolled, blackout or light-tight housing ’is
required. Bio-Mittent Lighting can be used in
open sided housing during the part of the day
when lights are normally used; however, the
advantage is savings in electricity and not
feed reduction.
2. Reduces Electric Bill.
Research and field tests show electricity costs
can be cut nearly V * compared to a constant
light program. (At 5* to 6*- per bird., added
income could be 25* for the life cycle of the
pullet and hen.)
3. Improves Shell Strength.
The improvement is small but consistently 1
to V/2% thicker or stronger shells are pro
duced than shells with eggs from hens on
constant light.
