Galen Furry founded his Potter Creek Guernseys in 1934. His first purchases were from Walter Lash. The herd las
been on continuous DHIA testing since 1941. The herd averages for 1977,12079-576-101 cows; 1978,11965-574-99 cows.
DHER records completed in 1978 average 12349-583. . ....
For the past 22 years Paul Slagenweit has done an outstanding job as manager and herdsman, ably assisted by his
wife who has raised all of the calves during this period. Paul is retiring March Ist, hence the decision of the Furrys to
disperse the milking herd and bred heifers. .
The Potter Creek herd is basically a young herd with a majority of summer and early fall freshening; 8 due in
May, 6 in June, 13 in July, 141 n August and 14 in September. m
The predominant sires in the herd are Lyrene May Rose Prince (29), Welcome Flashs Holhrex (17), Norgerts
Royal Nance (8) and Darimost (6).

From the Potter Creek herd, approximately 100 cows in 1978 -1,220,000 lbs. of milk were shipped.
