good taste on your bread this
week with one of the sand
wich spread recipes featured
by our junior readers. Whip
a-waffle sandwich, chicken
salad, egg tuna salad,
lamberger cheese roll-up,
and surprise sandwiches,
can add some zip to plain
slices of bread. Bar-b-que,’
open sandwiches and tasty
tid-bit spread are also
featured.
February 10 will feature
hot steamy homemade
soups.
The week of February 17
will be featuring homemade
stews.
Meat pies will be the
recipes featured for the
week of February 24.
March 3rd will feature
casseroles.
Recipes should be sent in
one week before the recipe is
to be featured. Only com
plete recipes which include
all ingredients, instructions,
baking temperatures, times,
and type of pan to bake in,
will be used. Include your
name, age, and complete

WHIP-A-WAFFLE
SANDWICH
2 Bread slices
1 teaspoon Horseradish
mustard
1 Slice cheese, Swiss or
American,
2 slices ham
Vi teaspoon poppyseed or
sesame seed, optional
Vi to 1/8 teaspoon onion
powder
For each sandwich, use
two slices of bread. Trim the
crusts from the bread.
Spread one side of each slice
of bread with the hor
seradish mustard. Top with
one slice of cheese and two
slices of ham (depending on
thickness). Sprinkle with
poppyseed or sesame seed
(optional), and onion
powder. Cover with second
slice of bread. Butter the
outsides of the sandwich.
Grill two sandwiches at a
tune. Place the sandwiches
in the front part of the waffle
iron, away from the hinges.
Grill until golden brown. If a
waffle iron is not available.

buttered skillet and grill
until golden brown.

CHICKEN SALAD
1 quart cold boiled chicken
1 pint celery
mayonnaise
salt and pepper, to taste
4 to 5 hard boiled eggs
De-bone the chicken. Put
chicken, celery and eggs
through the coarse blade of a
food chopper. Add
mayonnaise until desired
consistency is reached (start
with four tablespoons). Add
salt and pepper to taste.
Chill. Serve as a sandwich
spread.

EGG TUNA SALAD
4 hard boiled eggs
Ismail can tuna
1 small onion chopped
1 cup chopped celery
V& cup salad dressing
Slice the eggs. Put in a
bowl with the tuna and salad
dressing. Combine- with
onion and celery. Serve on
bread.

J 4 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper
4 ounces grated' Cheddar
cheese
1 tablespoon catsup
1 teaspoon chopped omons

Make enough biscuit mix
