It was 25 years ago, on January 4, 1954, that the Society was formed by Mrs. Lydia Cleaver The meeting was held at Mrs. Cleaver’s home, and each lady wore a birthday hator paid a fine. After lunch, served by the hostess, a business meeting was held by Mrs, Laveme Richard, president. The program committee, chaired by Mrs. Harvey Moyer, presented an an niversary plate to each lady painted by Mrs. Richard Loeb and Mrs. William Moyer. Mrs. Ralph Baus made miniature floral arrangements in a silvertone vase for each lady also. The next meeting will be February 27, 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Richard, Boyertown R 3. The by-laws will bereviewed and each lady will wear red or pay a fine. Fifteen ladies attended the meeting and Mrs. Robert Richard was a guest'. Berks Co. The ladies learned of the dramatic contrasts between the modern cities and primitive rural areas nearby. The meeting was held at the home of President Gertrude Habecker, Rohrerstown. Mrs. Lucy Miller gave a report of the state convention. The Society’s March 3rd meeting will be held at the NeffsvUle Fire Hall at 1:30 p.m. Rhoda Beck -hosted the monthly meeting of the York County Farm Women Society 13. President An namae Snyder called the meeting to order. Eleven members are planning to attend the Spring Rally. A donation was given to the American Lung Association. Eighteen members were in at tendance. President Hake conducted the business meeting. It was reported that 10 members attended the state con vention banquet.. Delegates of the convention, President Hake, Luna Kohler, and Brenda Grogg, gave reports. The treasury books will be audited by Shirley Miller and Jean Phillips, and presented at the February meeting. The program was con ducted by Kay Kibler and Mrs. Kohler. The February meeting will feature a Valentines Party. Courses will be offered this month on vegetable variety selection for 1979 and starting seeds indoors. On Wednesday, February 14, a meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Railroad Community Building, York. On Thursday, February 15, the course will be offered at the Hanover (Gideon) Grange at 7:30 p.m. Planting and care of or namental shrubs and trees along with lawn care and pesticide safety will be the topics for the April and May classes.
