dinner meeting
LANCASTER - The
Lancaster County Pomona
Grange No. 71 held their
annual dinner meeting on
January 20, at Robert Fulton
Inn, Lancaster.
Master Jesse Wood con
ducted the business meeting.
Charles McSparran installed
three officers. Assistant
Steward, Arba Henry,
Finance Committee Shirley
Galebreatb, and Executive
Committee, Edward Zug.
Dorothy Stauffer is
chairman of the Tour
Committee for the National
Grange when it comes to
Lancaster on November 12
to 20. Ruth Ann Wood is in
charge of all the flowers for
the National Grange Session.
Grange members voted
favorably for the following
resolutions:
1. Whereas, Federal law
states that contractors
working on projects, wholly
or partially' funded by
federal funds, shall pay
union scale wages, thereby
adding thousands of dollars
to the cost of such projects.
And whereas, many local
contractors refuse to bid on
such projects, thereby
narrowing the number of
bids to a very few who in
turn bid a much higher
figure than they could,
knowing there would be little
or no competition. Be it
resolved. That Lancaster
County Pomona Grange No.
71, meeting in regular
session, ask for the repeal of
this law.
2. Whereas, Deficit
spending by the Federal
Government is the largest
cause of inflation, And
whereas. Inflation is one of

Senators to study this
problem, abolish all un
necessary expenditures,
stabilize the wages of all
government employees and
take whatever steps are
necessary to stabilize the
dollar and abolish inflation.
3. Whereas, Our country
issues hundreds of thousands
of visas annually to people
from countries all over the
world to stay in this country
for a stated period of time
for the purpose of going to
college, sight-seeing,
visiting, learning a trade, or
other various reasons. And
whereas, There has been
many riotous demon
strations, often destroying
much property and even
lives. Be it resolved, That
Lancaster County Pomona
Grange No. 71, meeting in
regular session, ask that
Legislation be enacted that
would require that all visas
clearly state that par
ticipation in demonstrations
of any nature could lead to
their cancellation and
deportation to their own
country.
