44 — Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 3,1979 N.J. Winter farm meetings scheduled FLEMINGTON, N. J. - The Hunterdon County, N.J. Cooperative Extension Service schedules its Winter series annually to begin in early February and spill over into March. There are five meetings set for the Extension Cen ter’s large meeting room, evenings beginning at 8 p.m. on Field Crops (two nights), dairy beef, sheep-swine. First night is February 6, and it will be devoted to tillage practices. A farmer panel will be featured on the program. Growers, like Bob Fulper, Lambertville, will describe their preferred tillage methods. Advantages and disadvantages of no-till, minimum till, and con- venhonal tillage will be discussed. Contributing to the Field Crops I program will also be Dr. Jim Justin, Cook College Extension specialist in Soils and Crops, discussing cover crops and new crop varieties. Dr. Roy Flannery, soils specialist, will be describing methods to increase crop yields through the proper use of lime and fertilizer. Second night in the Winter senes will be devoted to dairy topics and is set for February 13. Extension Specialists Frank Wright and Edward Oleskie will be presenting their latest recommendations on feeding, breeding and care finances Ions? ot dairy cattle. A special slide talk, ‘ Bovine Reproduction,” will be presented by Dr. Phillip Garrett, Ringoes, area vetei inanan Dr Garrett has presented this talk to many farm groups over the northeast. Subsequent meetings are: Field Crops II “Pests...weed and insect control,” on February 21; beef topics on February 28; and sheep-swine on Tuesday, March 6.
