Lapp R&GrH New projects funded WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Commodity Credit Cor poration (CCC) has ap proved two loan guarantees to finance pilot projects that will and forestry products into fuel and other energy sources. This makes a total of three projects contingently ap proved by CCC. Current legislation provides for loan guarantees of up to $l5 million for a maximum of four pilot energy projects, said Weldon Barton, director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Energy. , The projects approved Jan. 12 are: -A joint venture by sub sidiaries of U.S. Sugar Corp. and Savannah Foods Corp., to build a plant in Clewiston, Fla. to convert sugar cane residues to alcohols for in dustrial use. Under a third project, approved Dec. 5, Enerco Inc., Langhome, Pa., will convert forest and agricultural residues into gas, oil and charcoal for fuel and other uses. This project will involve a number of mobile units located near sources of residues and will provide energy in rural communities.
