Farmers Union 4 earning its

Zemaitis, a young,
scholarly-looking gentleman
who six months ago was
hired by the Pennsylvania
Farmers Umon as their
administrative assistant,
says he has learned a lot
about farmers and his
adopted organization since
he moved into his office. His
verdict is that the Farmers
Union is earning its stripes
for the right reasons.
Noting that some farm
groups have made headlines
with publicity stunts which
leave lasting negative im
pressions, Zemaitis says the
Farmers Union works
constructively for im
provement of the farmer’s
life.
“We have made great
strides in communication,”
the freshman PFU
spokesman said in an ad
dress he delivered at the
annual banquet meeting of
the PFU on Monday night at
the Penn Harris Motor Inn.
His remarks preceded those
of National Farmers Union
President Tony Dechant,
who was guest speaker for
the occasion.
In testimony to Zemaitis’
statement on progress in
communication, it was noted
that nearly 30 represen
tatives of state government
were m the audience, with
most of those being
assemblymen and senators.
