Lancaster County FFA
membership could qualify
for the Star Farmer and Star
Agri-businessman degree.
Tim and Gordon will both
receive $lOO award towards
a trip to the National FFA
Coonntian in Kansas City,
Mo., along with the plaques
they received. There was a
total of 62 County winners.

HARRISBURG - When
the Pennsylvania
Association of FFA con
ducted its 50th annual Mid-
Winter Convention here last
week, one of the highlights
was the recognition of
parents who have had three
or more of their children win
the Keystone Degree. Five
such families from eastern
Pennsylvania were among
thosehonored. They were;
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde W.
Martin of East Earl who sent
three sons to the vo-ag
program at Garden spot
High School. Nelson
graduated in 1972, LaVem in
1976, and Clifford is
currently a senior.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Moyer of Lebanon, parents
of Harold, a 1969 graduate of
Cedar Crest High School;

award of Star Agri
businessman were: Ken
Long, Elizabethtown
chapter; Dennis Shelly,
Manheim chapter; Gerald
Martin, Grassland chapter;
Timothy Gockley, Cloister
chapter and Mike Ruhl of the
Brownstown FFA chapter.
Judges of the Star Farmer
award were Abe Fisher,
manager of Jet Age Farms,
Paradise, and Edgar Stoefz,
bead of the overseas division
of the Mennonite Central
Committee. Judging the Star
Agri-business contest were
Richard Blouch, former
agriculture teacher, and Don
Bidler, salesman for C.B.
Hoober, Intercourse. The
contest was sponsored by the
Lancaster County Red Rose
FFA.
Ray, 1976; and Dean, who
will graduate this Spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smoker
of Stevens also have three
sons who have won the
Keystone Degree. They are
Jay, a 1969 gradute of
Ephrata High School;
Marlin, 1973; and Kevin, who
is currently a senior.
Mr. and Mrs. Eli Weiler,
also of Stevens, had their son
Melvin earn the Keystone
Degree in 1974, followed by
John in 1977 and Mark in
1979.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl I.
Wenger of Myerstown,
parents of Floyd, Larry, and
David. David is a senior at
Eastern Lebanon County
High School. His older
brothers received their
degrees in 1969 and 1970,
respectively.
