Lebanon Rl, was COLUMBIA, Mo. - University of Missouri scientists have produced a new hybrid cross involving wheat, barley and rye. It’s a sterile hybrid, and the UMC scientists are trying to produce a fertile version of this cross which may be useful in developing improved varieties. The hybrid is a result of research by Gordon Kimber, wheat geneticist, and Percy J. Sallee, research specialist in the UMC agronomy department. Sallee actually made the cross.
