Draft horse show

HARRISBURG - Mrs. H.
Messerschmidt and Son,
Myerstown R 2, showed the
grand champion Belgian
mare at the Pa. Farm Show
competition held on
Tuesday. The mare, senior
champion in its class, was
born in June of 1979, and is
named Celeste Promoter.
The reserve grand
champion mare was shown
by Charles B. and Corbly
Omdorff, Waynesburg R 3.
The mare had been named
the reserve senior cham
pion.
The Omdorffs also showed
the junior champion mare
and the reserve junior
champion mare in the
Belgian competition.
The champion stallion was
exhibited by J. Herbert
Frantz, Waynesboro. The
animal named senior
champion was a three year
old, called Master Bob
Farceur.
The junior champion and
the reserve junior champion
stallion was shown by
Charles B. Lindsay,
Greencastle R 3. The junior
champion was named the
reserve champion grand
champion stallion.
In the Percheron horse
competition, Abraham W.
Allebach showed both a
mare and stallion to be
named the grand champions
in their classes. Both were
first named the junior
champions.
The reserve grand
champion stallion and the
reserve grand champion
mare were also shown by
Allebach. He also exhibited
the junior champion stallion,
the junior champion mare,
and the reserve junior
champion mare.
The reserve senior
champion stallion and the
reserve senior champion
mare were shown by Harry
J. Wnght, Summerhill Rl.
He also exhibited the reserve
junior champion stallion.
In the Clydesdale com
petition, Edward Johnston,
New Alexandria R 2, took all
the championships. His
entries won the grand
champion mare, grand
champion stallion, reserve
grand champion mare,
senior champion mare,
senior champion stallion and
reserve champion mare.
Linda Johnston, New
Alexandria R 2, won the first
horse draft breeds junior
showmanship contest to be
held at the Farm Show The
young lady is Penn
sylvania’s reigning Horse
and Mule Queen.

allowed 30 minutes to groom,
fit, and present their horse to
the judge
Second place in the contest
went to Gerald Allebach,
Spring Mills R 2; and third
place went to his sister,
Monica
In the hitch classes,
Robert W Decker made a
clean sweep, winning both
the one hitched horse class
and the pair of hitched
horses competition From
Somerset County, his flashy
horses and wagons, com
plete with a Dalmation
perched beside him were a
crowd pleaser.

Robert W. Decker, complete with his Daimation in the one horse hitch, won
the event at the Farm Show last week. Decker, from Somerset County, went on
to also win in the pair of hitched horses class, and the six hitched horses class.

was third, Abraham
Allebach took fourth, and
Elmer D. Lapp placed fifth.
