Ronald Flatness, Sire Power’s Director of Sales & Promotion an nounced William Bovier* from Canton, Pa., is now Sire Power’s District Sales Manager for Indiana. Bovier’s new duties include direct herd semen sales, teaching A.I. training schools, and promoting the Sire Power young sire sampling program. Bovier was raised on a Holstein farm. He became a Northeastern Breeders Association technician m his home county, Bradford, Pa., in 1970 following ihree years of Army duty in Germany. Sire Power is a farmer owned and controlled Pa. production down from 1977 HARRISBURG - Based on acreage, utilization and production data, Penn sylvania produced more rye but less potato, wheat, oat and barley than the revised 1977 crops, according to the Pennsylvania Crop Reporting Service. Potato acres harvested, at 25,000 is down two per cent, with a yield of 250 hun dredweight per acre, the same as last year. The result is a two per cent decline in production to 6.25 million cwt. Wheat acres harvested were down nine per cent to 245,000. Yield is estimated at 33.0 bushels, unchanged from last year, with the resulting production of 8.085.000 bushels forecast. Oats acres harvested were off three per cent to 340,000 while yield remained the same at 53.0 bushels. Production of 18 million bushels is down three per cent from last year’s crop. Harvested acres of barley was unchanged at 125,000.
