Cihylik of Treichlers, and R.
Wayne Harpster of Spruce
Creek.
Participating educators
include Allan H. Kates of
Blackburg, Va., Extension
weed control specialist since
1956 at Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State
University. A graduate of
Rutgers, Kates was
associated with some of the
earliest no-till research work
in the nation at VPI during
the early 19605.
Representing Penn State
are Donald R. Daum, Ex
tension agricultural
engineer, and Dr. Willis L.
McClellan, Extension weed
control specialist. Panel
moderator will be John Z.
Shearer of Chambersburg,
Extension agricultural agent
in Franklin County, Pa.
Prior to the weed control
panel, Dr. R. Vance Morey,
research agricultural
engineer at the University of
Minnesota, will give an
“Evaluation of Solar Grain
Drying.” Dr. Jon K. Hall,
research agronomist at
Penn State, will lead off the
morning program with the
topic, “Keeping the Soil on
Your Farm.”
The afternoon program
will feature an all-
Pennsylvania cast of Penn
State Extension specialists,
research workers and county
agricultural agents.
In addition, there will be
educational and commercial
exhibits prepared by par
ticipating land-grant
universities and 27
agribusiness sponsors - a
record number for this
meeting. Most of the
displays will be located in
the exlubit hall at Host Farm
Resort. A few large pieces of
no-till farm equipment will
be on view outside in the
parking lot.
Some 1,200 farmers and
agnbusmessmen are ex
pected to attend. Tickets tor
the noon luncheon should be
purchased m advance from
county offices m
