Lancaster Farming, Saturday, December 16,1976-
t of Christmas
By KENDACE BORRY
LEBANON - For the 27th
year in a row, with, as
members say, each year
getting bigger and better,
the Midway Church of the
Brethren, Lebanon, is in
volved in its annual
Christmas Choir Candlelight
program.
For the past ten years this
has involved creating
tableaux scenes depicting
the Christmas story as the
combined choirs tell their
story.
Under the direction of
Mrs. Norman E. Keller,
Lebanon, choir director, the
production will be per
formed on Sunday,
December 17 and Saturday,
December 23, both evenings
beginning at 7:30 p.m.
“Each year”, Mrs. Keller
stated, “we build from the
program the year before,
adding something new and
exciting. This year the big
project was having mem
bers hand sew new robes for
the actors.”
According to Mrs. Keller,
who has been the choir
director at the church for the
past 27 years, the committee

in charge of the Christmas
programs starts meeting in
September. By October they
are busy asking people to
star in their production, and
by the week before Christ
mas the last minute
rehersals are well un
derway.
“It’s such a joy to do this,”
she commented, “because
people are so willing to
serve.”
Noting that the Midway
Church is just a “country
church”, Mrs. Keller told
that each year a different
husband and wife are asked
to portray Joseph and Mary.
This year the team are Mr.
and Mrs. John Hess, Lititz.
Other actors include;
prophet, Herman Reist,
young men, Michael
Deckert, Todd Dohner, Jay
Dubble, William Dubble;
Elizabeth, Mrs. Earl
