Joseph D. Shine recently
announced a November 1978
base milk price of $11.85 per
hundredweight for the
Middle Atlantic Marketing
Order and an excess milk
price of $10.45. The weighted
average November price is
$11.75 and the butterfat
differential for the month is
13,9 cents., The November
base milk price is up 29 cents
from October and is $1.26
above the November 1977
base price. The gross value
of all producer milk was

58.25; choice, mainly grade
2, weighing 1075 to 1325
pounds, brought 57.25 to
58.25, and choice, yield grade
2 to 4, at 1000 to 1400 pounds,
brought 55.50 t 057.50.
At New Holland Sales
Stable, at the Thursday
auction, compared to the
week before, slaughter
steers were quoted as firm to
30 cents higher. High choice
and prime, yield grade 3 to 4,
weighing 1075 to 1325 pounds
sold for 57.75 to 59.25;
Choice, mainly grade 2,
weighing 1050 pounds to 1375
pounds broughts7.7s to 59.75,
with ten head bringing 60.00
to 61.00. This is the third

steers weighing 1075 to 1400
pounds.
Finally according to the
Pennsylvania Auction
Summary of 14 livestock
auctions throughout the
state, slaughter steers were
quoted as being steady to
$l.OO higher, compared to
last week’s martlet.

November producer- milk
receipts totaled 421.5 million
pounds, an increase of 0.5
per cent from the previous
month, on a daily average
basis. The total number of
producers reported was*
7,349, a decrease of 110 from
October. The average daily
delivery per producer was
1,912 pounds, up from 1,903
pounds in October and down
19 pounds from a year ago.
Class I producer milk ac
counted for 58.82 per cent of
total November producer
deliveries compared 56.48
per cent in October and 60.40
