—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 11,1978 46 Cheryl Newton shows champion Polled Hereford HARRISBURG - A Bed ford County exhibitor won the grand champion heifer honor at the Keystone In ternational livestock Ex position setting the pace for many other Pennsylvania winners. Cheryl Newton of Schellsburg took the title with her early junior yearling, “FLF Lady Beef 1,” which also was named the senior champion heifer. The reserve grand champion heifer, a senior, was shown by Eric Van Boron of Venus, which was also named champion heifer calf. Cheryl Newton also took the junior champion heifer title with “FLF Miss Fancy 1,” a late summer yearling. The reserve junior champion heifer, also a late summer yearling, was shown by Falklands Farms of Schells burg, with “FLF Miss Vic 69 30.” Falklands Farms won ten major awards last year. Falklands also showed this year’s reserve cham pion heifer calf, a junior, “FLF Miss Stylish H.” Huckelberry Farms of Smitbsburg, Maryland, had the reserve senior champion heifer, an early junior yearling, “HHF GK Vinnie 1-2 J.” In the Polled Hereford bull judging, William J. Fetterolf, Centre Hall Rl, was honored November 4, at the Pennsylvania Livestock ' Association’s annual awards banquet for being Penn sylvania’s Outstanding FFA member. Kenneth, the 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fetterolf, was selected because he established himself in livestock farming through individual initiative, sincere work, and his vocational agricultural occupational experience projects. Kenneth’s present self owned farming program includes 12 brood sows, 50 market hogs, and 13 steers. Nationally he is active through the United States Duroc Swine Registry, the Hampshire Swine Registry, and the American Cheviot Sheep Association. Kenneth has also exhibited at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition. Kenneth’s vocational agriculture teachers are John Ishler and Dennis Milhoan.
