—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 4,1978 140 Two Pa, FFA chapters win Gold Emblem awards KANSAS CITY, Mo., - Superior performance in activities involving leadership, scholarship and community service have qualified 112 of the nation’s most active chapters of the Future Farmers of America to receive that organization’s National Gold Emblem Award. Ceremonies conferring the award on those select few, chosen from the 8,148 FFA chapters in the nation, will be held in Kansas City at the National FFA Convention. G. Parkinson Chapter, Mc- Donald. Those qualifying for a bronze emblem include Grove City Chapter, Grove City; Little Dutchmen Chapter, Annville; and Twin Valley Chapter, Elverson. Box 1438, Doge City, Kansas 67801. Chapter Award encourages FFA chapters and members to actively participate in a wide variety of educational activities in vocational agriculture/FFA. In ad dition to the “Gold Emblem” presentations, a total of 112 chapters will receive the “Silver Emblem” award and another 144 will be honored with “Bronze Emblem” award. Chapters earn the award for their activities in 11 areas of chapter in volvement prescribed by the National FFA Organization. To be eligible for the National Chapter Award, FFA chapters submit an application listing their chapter’s performance in the following 11 areas: supervised agricultural experience programs; cooperative buying, selling and assistance to members; community service; leadership development; sound programs of earnings, savings, and investments; proper conduct of meetings; scholarship; recreation; public relations; State and National activities; and Alumni relations. The application form is \ judged first by the State FFA Association. Top State applications are then sub mitted for National evaluation.
