8,200. Compared last weeks
close, slaughter steers
steady to .50 lower.

Cows firm to 1.00 higher.
Bulls steady. Slaughter

Both slaughter steers and
heifers registered price
declines Monday following a
sluggish and lower wholesale
dressed beef trade late last
week. However, the lower
trend was reversed Tuesday
in face of continued reduced
marketings locally, and a
portion or all of Monday
declines were subsequently
offset by price upturns.

on slaughter steers were .50-
.75 lower and' heifers were
mostly .25-.50 lower, some
late sales .75-1.00 off. Cows
were firm and bulls steady to

Four day receipts 13,900 as
compared 11,800 previous

for the second successive
week, the fed cattle trade
was engulfed in a general air
of bearishness in reflection
of a depressed carcass
trade. Prices firmed on a
modest Monday run, but
even so, some buying in
terests were reluctant to
follow any price upturn and
were not aggressive beyond
minimum numbers for
immediate requirements. In
midweek trading, all in
terests were cajitious.
Ratio between current live
prices and lowered carcass
realizations. Carcass
movement was generally
slow despite the moderate
rate of daily slaughter. The
overall finish of the steer and
heifer supply was fairly
attractive with a liberal
percentage Choice and a
moderate volume Choice
and Prime. Slaughter steers
made up approximately 40
pet. and heifers 31 pet. Cows
comprised 10 pet. and
feeders 16 pet.
