The Lancaster County youth was nominated for the degree by the Pennsylvania FFA Association. The nomination was approved at a recent meeting of the National FFA Board of Directors in Alexandria, Va. The Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Company pays 17 cents per pound for all-aluminum beverage cans and other clean household aluminum at its recycling points in Pennsylvania. “Recycling aluminum saves 95 per cent of the energy required to produce it from virgin materials,” notes E.J. Kelly, district manager of the Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Company. “Energy savings of both electricity required to produce aluminum and fossil fuels needed to generate the electricity for the aluminum reduction process are. accomplished by recycling.” Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Company pays 17 per pound for all-aluminum for the American Farmer Degree Dwight will receive the degree in a special ceremony on Thursday, November 9, pending a final vote of approval of 122 student delegates representing over half a million FFA members. Travel awards will be presented to American Farmer Degree recipients to offset their travel expenses to the National FFA Con vention in Kansas City. The cash awards are sponsored beverage cans and other clean household aluminum such as pie plates, foil, frozen food and dinner trays and dip, pudding and meat containers. Certain other items, including aluminum siding, gutters, storm door and window frames, and lawn furniture tubing are also worth 17 cents per pound. This aluminum must be free of all foreign materials, cut to lengths not exceeding three feet and should not be mixed with cans.
