Here’s advice from

Dealer on how to
improve the operation
of your round baler
when you bale
corn fodder:
Preparation; The material should be as long as possible, and
not over-conditioned. For good bale-core formation, the
material should have a tendency to cling together, or have
sufficient length to help hold itself together. If a flail cutter or
chopper is used, it is very important to rake two or three
windrows together.
Driving Technique: During core formation, reduce the PTO
speed to approximately 300 RPM, maintaining the same
ground speed br slightly higher, if tractor and ground
conditions permit. Once the core formation is completed, the
PTO speed can be increased back up to 540 RPM. If the
material is extremely short, dry, and brittle, operate early in
the morning or late evening when there is some dew or
dampness. This will help the material to stick together.
