Four day receipts 11,800 compared to 10,600 previous week and 16,600 a year ago. The fed cattle trade was characterized by a general air of bearishness in the wake of the recent “cattle on feed” report and a rapidly declining carcass trade on the wholesale level. Most buying interests were in need of cattle, but were not inclined to acquire numbers beyond immediate requirements. There was strong early seller resistance to the lower prices, but trading was usually slow and selective despite small supplies of fered.
