The 4-H and FFA teams had
all previously been declared
their home state cham
pionship teams.
Pennsylvania’s team
scored first in FFA all
breeds judging with 1485
points, with Virginia coming
in second with 1480 and
Maryland scoring 1453.
In FFA individual judging
for all breeds, Tim Peachey
of the Huntingdon School
District in Pennsylvania tied
first place at 509 points with
Alan Knoop of Fletcher,
Ohio. Roy Shirk of Lebanon
took third place with 501
points.
California Poly State
University captured the
Intercollegiate trophy
scoring 2015 points. The
University of Maryland was
second with 1994 points,
followed by Virginia Tech

19 teams, Penn State
University scored a total of
1916 points, coming in
eleventh place.
The top individual per
formance in the In
tercollegiate division went to
Henry Giacomini of Fern
dale, California, of the
California Poly State
University team with 688
points. Eddie Leach of the
University of Kentucky
placed second with 684 points
and Melinda Johnston of
Virginia Tech finished third
with 681 points.
Kentucky captured the 4-H
team trophy this year with
1766 points. Maryland’s
team, which finished first
last year, came in second
with 1744 points followed by
Ohio with 1719 points.
Kentucky scored second in
last year’s judging. Penn
sylvania took ninth place in
this year’s judging in a field
of 14 teams.
In 4-H individual scoring,
Mark Miller of the Kentucky
team won first place with 613
points. Pennl McLean of
North Carolina placed
second with 596 points and
Scott Drown of Ohio took
third place with 588 points.

Sancrest Farms of
Billings, Mo. captured the
junior champion female title
with “Sancrest Verna” and
the reserve junior champion
female title with “Sancrest
Viola.”
Sancrest Farms also won
the reserve senior champion
and reserve grand champion
female titles with “Sancrest
Unless.” Weg Acres cap
tured the senior champion
and grand champion female
honors with “Raspberrys
Lucinda.”
Pinesedge Farms of Berks
County exhibited the fifth
place senior yearling bull,
third and fourth place aged
dry cows, second and fifth
place aged cows, second best
udder, third in best three
females, fourth dairy herd,
third dam and daughter.
The first place state herd
belonged to Wisconsin,
followed by Maine and
Pennsylvania.
