the school district has in
stituted a glass, newspaper,
and cardboard recycling
project at the high school
which was begun in 1971. The
project has been a con
tinuing success ever since,
with the totals of glass and
paper reaching 350 tons each
up to the present.

Glazier, from Fulton County.

servation District in 1973 and
since then has served as

state association’s land use
committee.

He is an active farmer and
has been a cooperator for
many years.
Forest conservationist of
the year was N. Dean
Stamer, Bradford County.
The operator of the Stamer
Tree Farm located near
Camptown, Stamer, a vo-ag
teacher at Wyaliismg High
School, operates 400 acres.
Over tile past ten years the
Stamers haave planted over
100,000 trees and shrubs.
Timber stand improvement
work was done on 70 acres
with most of the material
removed utilized by the
Stamers and their neighbors
for firewood. Over 200,000
board feet of saw timber has
been removed from an
addistional 70 acres. Now
retired, Stamer plans to step
up his activities with con
tinual annual havests of saw
lumber.
Revealed as watershed
person of the year was
Darlene E. Confer, from
Carbon County, who serves
as executive secretary of the
Carbon County Recreation
Authority and is a member
of the Mauch Chunk
Watershed that won the
National Watershed of the
Year award in 1978.

School, in Bucks County. A

District award for having set
a high priority on con
servation education.
Foremost is, the Meesmg
Nature Center, which is an
environmental education
facility developed through
the district and ad
ministered by the district
staff. They also conduct a
conservation camp, con
servation school, an erosion
and and sediment control
workshop, forestry field day,
and several other training
sessions
Awards were also given
for 'director service and
poster contests.
The conference was held
on Monday through Wed
nesday of this week, with
district directors and in
terested personel gathering
to leam more of how to face
the problems and attain the
goals desired by con
servation districts today.
