Hie high herd in the York County DHIA program for
August tests were the 33 Holsteins of Avalong Farms, Inc.,
York,which averaged 64 pounds of milk and 2.24 pounds of
butterfat per day. Second high was Smysers Riddawn
Farms, Inc., York RIO, with 67 Holsteins averaging 54
pounds of milk and 1.99 pounds of butterfat per day.
The high cow for the month was Ferne, a 4-year old
Holstein at Beshore Farms, New Cumberland Rl, which
produced 25,240 pounds of milk and 927 pounds of butterfat
in 305 days. Second high was Rozana, a 5-year old Guern
sey owned by Avalong Farms. She produced 16,632 pounds
of milk and 908 pounds of butterfat in 305 days.
