Riders compete at Lampeter Fair horse show
LAMPETER - Sandy
Hamilton, Lampeter, was
named champion at the West
Lampeter Community
Fair’s all-western horse
show held last week. With a
total of 14 points, she was
high scorer on her mount,
MissHoneytone.
She is a member of the
Boots and Saddles 4-H Horse
and Pony Club of Lancaster
County and told that she has
been riding for ten years.
She had also been the
champion at the 1977
Lampeter Fair horse show.
Curtis Huber, Ronks, was
named reserve champion,
the 11 year old rode his horse
Miss Chip Five to compete m
the event.
Judge for the day’s show was
Mrs. Sue McCoy, Mount Joy
R 2.
In the evening classes,
which were open to all
participants, the champion
of the show was Ken Huber,
father of Curtis. He rode the
horse Victory’s Shadow, now
ten years old, which he had
bought as a weanling.
Larry Zook, Paradise, was
named reserve champion at
the show, riding his horse
Mr. ElSancho.
In the popular event of calf
roping, with 20 entries, the
fastest time went to Bob
Paul, who roped and tied his
calf in 11.781 seconds.
Charlie Markie took second
with a time of 12.723 seconds,
and Mike Rhineer placed
third with a 13.305 time.
