its own history to build a more secure future

To highlight the special
occasion, guest of honor,
Lowell Blass of Hubbard
Farms, Walpole, N.H.
presented a brief history
dating back to September 22,
1951, when the organization
held it’s first oarbeque.
Blass, acting as Berks
County Extension agent at
the time, was instrumental
in reinstituting the poultry
association, and along with
thre other poultrymen of the
county played an important
role in getting chicken
barbeqeuing started in
Pennsylvania.
He also reminded the area
poultrymen of the im
portance of their product, as
well as all other agricultural
products in the country’s
balance of payment on the
world trade market,
“especially with the high
