Ephrata Fair lamb show

EPHRATA - Margaret
Herr, Narvon RD2, along
with her sister, Barbara,
and brother Christian, took
top honors at the Ephrata
Fair lamb show, judged by
William MacCauley 111,
Atglen on September 27.
Margaret, 11, exhibited
the champion market lamb
along with the reserve
champion pen of three
lambs. She also captured
the on-foot carcass lamb
class with her champion
Suffolk entry.
Barbara, 15, not to be out
done, won the champion pen
of three lambs with her
Hampshire entries. She was
later named grand cham
pion sheep showman and
grand champion sheep fitter.
Christian, 16, won reserve
champion market lamb with
his Dorset entry. He also
took second place m the
senior fitting and
showmanship contests.
Gary Martin. East Earl
captured champions in the
first and second year fitting
and showmanship contests.
Third and fourth year
showmanship was won by
Margaret Herr, while the
fitting contest was won by
Debbie Martin, East Earl.

Hans Groff, Ephrata, won reserve champion on-foot carcass with his
Hamsphire entry, at the Ephrata Fair lamb show.
Margaret Herr, 11, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Herr, Narvon, showed
her champion on-foot carcass lamb at the Ephrata Fair lamb show held
September 27. She also won the champion market lamb, and took reserve
champion honors in the pen of three iamb class.

at the Ephrata Fair. Her
entry was selected the day
before as the champion on
foot carcass, and went on to
win champion on-rail con
test. Margaret’s lamb had a
4.3 square inch loin eye. It’s
leg measured 20 inches and
the carcass was 33 Vz inches
long with a back fat of V*
inch.
Christian Herr, 16, won
reserve champion on-rail
with his Dorset entry which
had placed fourth in the on
foot competition. His entry
had a 4.5 square mch loin
eye, and a leg measurement
of 18V* inches. The carcass
was 31% inches long with a
back fat of V* mch.
The carcass lambs will be
auctioned at Ephrata Fair
on September 29, 6:30 p.m
at the upper ball diamond,
Ephrata Community Park.
