The fed cattle trade followed *48.95 full Coil d auction news a rather irregular pattern during the week under review. Prices were forced downward on the initial ses sion in reflection of a dull carcass trade carrying over from the previous week and fairly liberal marketings. However, stiff seller resistance curtailed marketings sharply and prices again pointed upward to regam much of the early downturn. In addition, car cass -trading showed moderate improvement at midweek, and most slaughterers were in need of cattle for immediate re quirements as live inven tories became depleted. The run included a fairly large percentage or*choice steers and heifers and a modest volume choice and prime. Slaughter steers made up approximately 38 per cent of the week’s total and heifers 30 per cent cows comprised 9 per cent and feeders 20 per cent.
