% cup butter
Vz cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon flour
Peel, core and slice apples
into eighths. Arrange apples
in pastry lined pie plate. Mix
sugar and cinnamon
together. Pour over apples.
Dot with butter. To make
crumb topping cream butter
and sugar together. Cut m
flour until mixture is
crumbly. Cover top of pie
with the mixture. Bake at
400°F. 50 to 60 minutes. •

8 baking apples
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
% cup flour
% cup butter
% cup water
Wash, pare, quarter and
core apples. Cut each
quarter lengthwise into
three or four slices. Put
sliced apples in bottom of a
buttered baking dish. Add
water. Combine sugar,

Interior decorating was
the theme of evening
speaker Loretta Hovis,
cinnamon and flour. Rub
butter into mixture to make
crumbs. Spread crumbs
over top of apples, patting
them down evenly. Bake at
375°F. for approximately 40
minutes. Leave uncovered.
Makes 6 to 8 servings. Serve
with cream.

VANILLA
ICECREAM
2 eggs
2 cups milk
% cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
V* teaspoon salt
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Separate the eggs and
make a soft custard of the
milk, egg yolks, flour,
cornstarch and sugar. Beat
the egg whites until they are
stiff. Pour the hot custard
over them and mix
thoroughly. Add the vanilla
and salt. When cooled, add
the whip cream and freeze.
Makes two quarts.

response to their community
project of food donations to
the Lancaster Council of
Churches Food Bank. Two
quart containers were
bended out to be filled for the
LARC bazaar.
A program on safety by
Detective Jay Dacheux will
be featured at next month’s
meeting, October 16, 7:30
p.m: at the home of Carolyn
Newcomer.

Women Society 5 at Royers
Garden Center, Lebanon for

Twenty members were

A short business session
was conducted by President
Minerva Lentz. The travel

tember 27 to the Bloomsburg
Fair. Tickets for the October
11 fall convention were sold
to members.
