Colored breeds

READING
seemed to be no surprises in
the top placed animals in the
five colored breeds
represented at the Reading
Fair Dairy Shows, held
September 13. Judging the
five shows were Robert
Kauffman and Allan Bair.
For the Aryshire Show, the
Henley family came out on
top again while competing
against five other exhibitors.
Mildred Seeds,
Downingtown took the
highest honors in the Jersey
Show. For Brown Swiss, top
honors were awarded to
Richard Heyer of Kutztown
and Scott Hauseman, Oley.
Hie Tischler family of
Downingtown proved to be
unmatched with their prize
winning Guernseys and
Pinesedge Farms,
ShoemakersrOle, still holds
the Grand Champion titles
for Milking Shorthorn, as
shown by the Yoder family.

Ayrshire Show
Young William Henley
took many of the ribbons of
the Ayrshire show including
Senior and Grand Champion.
His highest placed animal,
Towerview Kelly’s Heather,

conference report
WASHINGTON, D.C. -
U.S. Senator Herman E.
Talmadge, chairman of the
Senate Committee on
Agriculture, Nutrition, and
Forestry, said that a con
ference bill adopted by the
Senate recently will cut
through the red tape that has
virtually immobilized the
Federal pesticide regulation
program.
“The bill represents a
sound balance between the
interest of pesticide users,
and the concern of all
Americans for the preser
vation of the environment
is a four vpar old sired by
Oak Ridge Flashy Kellogg.
Other honors won by this
exhibitor included first place
ribbons in senior heifer calf,
senior get-of-sire, and
produce of dam classes. He
was placed second in junior
yearling, aged cow, and
dairy herd classes and took
third placed ribbons in
junior calf, three year-old,
and dam and daughter
classes.

calf, four-year-old, and

blue ribbons in two year
olds, three year-olds, aged
cows, best three females,

Sharon Nolan, Cochran
ville, showed both the junior
and reserve junior cham
pions. These animals were
the first placed senior
yearling and junior heifer
calf. Sharon also had three
year-old and third placed
best three females as well as
the second placed dam and
daughter. Other exhibitors
included Christine Dietrich,
Hamburg, with the first
placed intermediate calf and
junior yearling. Lois Heyer,
Kutztown, showed the
second placed junior heifer
adopts

urging the Senate to approve
the Conference report.
Senate approval of the
conference report was next
to the last step in the
prolonged Congressional
effort to rewrite the 1972
Federal Insecticide,
Fungicide, and Rodenticide
Act. House adoption of the
report is necessary to send
the legislation to the White
House.
The bill has been in the
Congressional works for
almost two years.

Champion was Richard
Hartz, Oley, which was won
by his Reserve Junior
Champion, the first placed
junior heifer. Senior
Champion was awarded to
Scott Hauseman, Oley, for
his two year-old.
Other placings included;
Joan Tischler • second junior
heifer, Gary Hauseman,
Oley, third; Junior heifer;
Mike Tischler, first in senior
yearlings, and Susan
Tischler, second in senior
yearlings.
Brown Swiss Show
In Brown Swiss com
petition Senior and Grand
Champion honors were
awarded to Richard Heyer,
Kutztown, for his four-year
old cow which was also
chosen as best udder.
Richard also showed the
second placed three year
old. Reserve Senior
Champion and Reserve
Grand Champion was
exhibited by Scott
Hauseman, Oley, which was
his three year-old cow. Scott
had other first place honors
in intermediate calf which
went on to become the
reserve junior calf and
fourth in junior yearling
classes.
The Junior Champion of
the show was Wasyl
Onulack, Coopersburg,
exhibiting the first place
junior heifer. Wasyl placed
second in that class also
second in junior yearlings,
and first in senior yearlings.
Gary Hauseman, Oley,
showed the first place senior
heifer, second intermediate
calf, and third junior
yearling. Gregg German,
Pottstown, bad the first
placed junior yearling.
Milking Shorthorns
Pinesedge Farms
produced all the Champions
of the Milking Shorthorn
Show this year. Grand
Champion Bull was a Senior
Yearling, Kingsdale Rosie’s
Prince. Senior and Grand
Champion rosettes were
awarded to an aged cow
shown by Nedra Yoder,
Shoemakersville. Nedra also
showed the first placed
junior yearling to Reserve
Junior Champion, following
her sister Wendy who had
the Junior Champion in her
senior yearling. A three year
old cow exhibited by
Pinesedge Farm was
awarded Reserve Grand
Champion.
Frederick Yoder showed
the first placed two year-old
and four year-old, while J.
Douglas Marsh, Sad
sburyville, showed the first
placed bull calf, senior
heifer, third placed senior
yearling, and second placed
dry cow.
Jersey Show
Top-O-Hill Farm, owned
by Mildred Seeds,
Downmgtown swept Grand
Champion of the Jersey
Show, taking the Grand
Champion Bull and Senior
and Grand Campion Cow
titles in the open show. Top-
O-Hill also placed first in
senior heifer, junior
yearling, two year old, three
year old and four year old
classes, as well as the junior
and senior get-of-sire, best
three females, and dairy
herd classes.

Champion of the 4-H show
was Bruce Heller,
Downingtown. Bruce also
had the first place two year
old and aged cow, was third
in produce of dam and first
in dam and daughter. Other
exhibitors were Harold
Dietrich Jr., first in junior
heifer calf, fourth in 2 year
olds. Helen McCahon,
Downingtown showed the
