There were nine teams in the pony contest. Weigh-in was im portant in being certain that a team of ponies was being pitted against others of similar size. There was a 1200 pound limit on the pony teams, 3200 pounds on the horses. All had to be weighed in at Flemington Block and Supply prior to the contest. Charles Jennings, Millerton, Pa., took first place honors in the pony pull. The number of broiler fryers slaughtered under federal inspection during the week ending August 30, were 1,902,000 with an average weight of 3.98 pounds.
