Following are more detailed results, by breed, beginning with the largest group of com petitors, the Holstein shopmen. At the halter of a 3-year old, young Peter King edged a 2-year old entry exhibited by Beverly Brown of Delta. The same animals stood as senior and reserve senior cahmpion, respectively. In showmanship among Holstein exhibitors, Barbara Kilgore was first, followed by Patricia Greek and Beverly Brown. Miss Kilgore was later judged as reserve champion showman in competition among exhibitors for all breeds. Tops in Holstein fitting was Lesley King while Annette Walter and Jonathan Miller followed in that order. GUERNSEYS Tina Rutter won double honors in the 4-H dairyjshow by winning the prized purple rosette and championship showmanship distinction over all breeds. She exhibited a 3-year old. Reserve grand champion was Darryl Rohrbach’s second-place 3-year old. The same two entries stood as senior and reserve senior champion, respectively. Miss Lehman is from York and Rohrbaugh hails from New Freedom. Junior champion honors were won by Tim Rutter of York, while Micki Egenfritz, York, won the runner-up spot. Class winners were as follows: Junior Calf - Micki Ilgenfritz, York; In termediate Calf - Todd Rutter, York; Senior Calf - Cindy Rutter, York; Junior Yearling - Timy Rutter; Senior Yearling - Debbie Lehman, York; Three-Year Olds - Tina Rutter; Four- Year Olds - Brian Lehman; Aged Cows - Barry Lehman; Dam and Daughter - Cindy Rutter. In Guernsey showing and fitting competition, Todd Rutter was tops in fitting, followed by Timy and Tina Rutter. Runner-up in the contest for grand championship honors was Scott Cooper of Delta who took a second-place junior yearling into the ring. The same two animals stood as junior and reserve junior champions. No milking age females were shown. The only other first-place entrant was Joey Welsh of East Berlin. The young 4-H’er from western York County was chosen champion fitter and showman in breed competition. Runner-up on both counts was Scott Cooper. BROWN SWISS Holstein breeder Kevin Laughman of Thomasville came close to winning top honors in the Brown Swiss show when the judgenamed his junior yearling as junior champion. Going into toe ring later for grand champion honors, the young man and his entry edged toe reserve senior champion for reserve grand honors. The high honors of the show went to Greg Fantom of Delta who had a first place aged cow, a first-place 2-year old and a first-place Hickory Grange wins at fair FLEMINGTON, N.J. - Hickory Grange No. 133 topped this year’s Grange Booth competition at toe Flemington Fair. Grangers competed with one another in displays of produce in the Main Agricultural Tent on the Fairgrounds. The reserve senior champion was owned by* Jana Beth Fantom. Reserve junior champion was Mike Welsh. Other 4-H’ers to win first places with their animals were Carol Mundis of York with a junior calf, Mike Welsh with an intermediate calf, Jana Beth Fantom with a senior calf, and David' Krone with a senior yearling. In showmanship and fit ting, Greg Fantom won the showmanship category and Jana Beth Fantom was tops in fitting. Runner-ups for the respective contests were Jana Beth Fantom and Mike Welsh. JERSEYS The Welsh brothers, Mike and Joey, dominated this event, showing the grand and reserve grand cham pions, respectively. Also winning first-place ribbons and championship rosettes were Suzy Queitsch of New Freedom (junior champion) and Michael Anderson of Hanover (reserve junior champion). Mike and Joey Welsh placed first and second, respectively, in fitting. In showmanship, Mike Welsh was -first and Suzy Queitsch placed second. many different kinds of fruits, vegetables, and farm crops grown in the area. Hickory’s score was 97.73 out of a possible 100. Second place went to Locktown Grange No. 88. Locktown had been 1977’s Grange competition winner. This year they amassed 97.15 points. Third place went to the Kingwood Grange No. 106 with 95.54 points. 109
