    O New York 4-H livestock sale sets record
CALEDONIA, N.Y. The. They purchased a total of 12
Caledonia 4-H Meat Animal from this sale.
Show and Sale set a new
record price of $6.65 a pound
paid by Hatfield Packing
Company of Hatfield, Pa. for
the grand champion 4-H hog
exhibited by Kim Olmstead
of W. Bloomfield, N.Y. This
was near a national record
for a livestock auction.
Hatfield Packing Co. did the
bidding against a strong
contending bidder of Tobin
Packing Company of
Rochester, a long time
participant in this annual 4-
H Show and Sale. Hatfield
Packing Company is not new
to the New York Pork in
dustry as they have a weekly
buying station in Scipio

for a record price of $4.25 per
pound. The 51 hogs at the
sale averaged $94.35 per
hundred weight with the
champions included.
Without the champions, the
average was $75.55 per
hundred compared with a
regular market price of
about $5O per hundred
weight.
The lamb division of 26
animals averaged $97.85 per
hundred weight. Champion
honors went to Doreen
Fitz Patrick of Wayland and
her animal sold to Harris
