_ Rat control funded.,.,. * < * 1 J *' VM «PV HARRISBURG - Penn sylvania communities conducting programs designed to limit and reduce the Commonwealth’s rat population are eligible to seek grants-in-aid from the $500,000 appropriated by the. General Assembly for this purpose this fiscal year. 1 Applications for the grants, to be awarded in January, must be filed with Pennsylvania En vironmental Resources Department’s seven Regional Environmental Protection (EP) Offices by October 15, Paul J. Mc- Michael, Chief, Facilities Sanitation and Vector Control Division, DER Bureau of Community Environmental Control, announced recently. McMichael said that all will be screened by an adivsory review board comprising representatives of State agencies, municipal organizations and univer sities before funding is approved. Last year 31 of the 36 municipalities that ap plied shared in the $500,000 rat control grant fund.
