Interested and involved in
farming, gardening and
homemaking, Mrs. Ohlinger
is genuinely committed to
the well-being of her family
and community. Like her
husband,, she is an active
member of the Grange and
numerous other
organizations. One of her
annual public relations
projects involves hosting
Kindergarten classes at the
farm. In addition, Reu-Hel
Farms has been the location
. a variety of business and
•social events such as field
days.
The Ohlmgers’ daughters,
Cathleen and Constance, are
both active members in the
Northern Berks 4-H Dairy
Club, and have shown many
blue-ribbon Holsteins. Like
their parents, they are
members of the Grange, and
local, state and national
Holstein organizations.
In trials...
Seven veal feeding programs
were compared... and
you've not the winner!
In total gains, rate of gain and conversion rate,
one program stood out above all others. That’s
the one on which Agway Veal Pre-Starter, Starter
and Finisher are based.
The group on the winning program started
at an initial average weight of 111.1 lbs. And fin
ished at 349.00 lbs. An average gain of 237.9 lbs.
With a feed conversion rate of 1.66 pounds of
feed per pound of gain.
Agway Veal Pre-Starter, Starter and Finisher

knows that protein quality and fat source are
where performance is. As the trials showed...
quality pays off.
Every veal grower knows that prime veal
depends on the quality and vigor of the calves,
on proper housing, feeding management and
sanitation. Do all of them right, and the line-up
of Agway Veal Feeds can do a superior job for
you.

of rye. In addition, they have
30 acres of pasture.
Although Ohlinger prefers
com silage in the ration, he
also makes use of plenty of
hay, haylage, and high
moisture com. As is true on
most' farms these days,
mechanization and
automation are strongly
evident at Reu-Hel Farms.
The accomplished and
award winning farmer has
also been making use of up
to-date technology, as well
as management methods
which have been around for
generations. Some hay, for
example, is still dried in the
bam on the dryer. At other
times, a hay preservative is
used. A helicopte is called
m from time to time to spray
vast alfalfa fields and
thereby keep pests under
control.
