4-H district colored breed champions chosen
HARRISBURG - At the
11th annual South Central
District 4-H Dairy Show,
many winners were picked
in the colored breeds
division of the show. Held
August 29 at the Farm Show
Building, Champions were
chosen throughout the
morning’s classes.
In the Ayrshire division,
the senior champion, Karen
D. Schmuck, Peach Bottom
R 2, was named the grand
champion of that breed. She
showed an animal in the
three and four year old class,
Pineland Pride's Buttons,
and this is her third year to

be chosen champion at the
District show.
Her sister, Sandra Lee
Schmuck, showed the junior
champion, Cove Creek
Victorys Vel, a senior
yearling. It was named the
reserve champion of. the
breed.
For the second year in a
row, David E. Feidt,
Millersburg Rl, took his
Brown Swiss Rainy Design
Rochele, to be named grand
champion in the Brown
Swiss breed. The animal
competed in the three and
four year old class. David,
the 13year old son of Mr. and
Mrs Eugene Feidt, bred the
animal himself.
The reserve champion in
the Brown Swiss also came
from the senior division,
with Katherine Feidt, the 17
year old sister of David,
taking that prize with her
aged cow, High Spruce
Beautician Nora.
Mike Welsh, East Berlin
Rl, showed the junior
champion, and Kevin S.
Laughman, Thomasville R 2,
showed the reserve junior
champion.
The Guernsey grand
champion was shown by
John Willard Moore,

Chambersburg R 2. The 19
year old 4-H’er showed
Spring Garden Flashs
Royal, and he had won the
reserve championship with
her last year. He is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Moore.
‘Tina Rutter’s animal,
whicn was shown by her
sister Cindy, was named
reserve champion. The York
County girl showed m the
three and four year old class,
with her cow Rutter Bros.
Pals Faith.
Junior Champion was
Douglas B. Rohrer, Lan
caster. Reseve junior
champion went to .the junior
yearling shown by Jeffrey
Benedict, Waynesboro Rl.
Lisa Ann Gsell, Cham
bersburg R 5, showed the
senior and grand champion
in the Jersey breed division.
The 15 year old daughter of
Mr. and mrs. Paul Gsell
showed the two year old Pine
Mountain SurviUe Martha
Reserve champion also
came from the senior
divison, ans was shown by
Dawn M. Ridinger,
Biglerville R 2. Now 16, the
daughter of Mr. and mrs.
Irwin Ridinger, had the
reserve champion last year.
Gail E Bukowski had the
junior Jersey champion
while her brother Patrick
Bukowski showed the
