When results were finalized
for the recent Pennsylvania
4-H Achievement Days, a
statewide series of contests
for 4-H Club members from
all over the state, it was
noted that 100 per cent of the
competition was won by.
participants' from the
Capitol Region. That area
encompasses eight counties,
those being Adams, Cum
berland, York, Dauphin,
Lancaster, Franklin,
Lebanon and Perry.
Lancaster and York
Counties did particularly
well in the contests, as was
noted in both last and this
week’s issue - of Lancaster
Farming. Due to a strike
that was going on at Penn
State University while the
contests were being held,
complete results were not
available at presstime a
week 'ago. Although an
overall view of Lancaster 4-
H’ers’ achievements ap
peared in a front-page ar
ticle two weeks ago, results
$2318 to be used for the
trophies, ribbons, and other
promotions used during the
day. Top selling item at the
same was a homemade quilt
which bbrought $4OO.
The event was organized
by James Glass, who is
president of the Northeast
Chianma Association. He
has beeiiJn charge orf the
field day for the past three
years.
Judge for the day was Kmc
Overpeck, from Clinton, Ind.
for contest were still coming

achievements were noted in
an article beginning on page
1 of last week’s edition.
The state’s number one 4-
H entomologist is a Lan
caster Countian - Virginia
Smith of Millersville.
Blue ribbon performances
were turned in by Lancaster
County 4-H demonstration

Rohrer of Lancaster.
